It’s no wonder the property is an artists’ bush camp with Percy Trezise, Ray Crooke, Dick Roughsey, Heinz Steinmann and currently Steve Trezise painting here, this region contains Queensland's most extensive Aboriginal rock art galleries, with spectacular sandstone escarpments, ranking alongside the Kimberley and Arnhem Land as Australia's most important rock art regions. UNESCO rates the Quinkan region as one of the top ten rock art areas in the world.

The late Percy Trezise, artist and rock art researcher and his family rediscovered many of the Quinkan (Aboriginal name for spirits) rock art sites in the 1960’s and named his home “Jowalbinna”, meaning “Dingo’s ear”, after the towering red bluff located in the area.

Today, Steve Trezise is your expert guide to the many rock art sites, with a variety of walks catering to each individuals fitness levels, interests and available time.

Unwinding won’t be difficult at Jowalbinna as you’ll have a choice of discovering ancient rock art, cooling off in the beautiful creeks, observing the array of wildlife, this is also an ideal location for your own arts retreat…why not bring your own canvas to create your very own masterpiece?
