Weddings in Cooktown

Wedding at Cherry Tree Bay

The mild weather and wonderful venues will make for a day you will never forget.

Cooktown will provide you with plenty of options for your wedding venue, reception and wedding accommodation.

Make sure the day runs smoothly – visit the local hair dresser, order your flowers direct from the nursery and your cake from the bakery and contact one of the professional photographers in town.

Mrs Beverly Stone is Cooktown’s certified celebrant who over many years has conducted weddings in and around Cooktown. Thanks to her professional attitude and her personal touch, she will make sure that your wedding day will be the one you’ll treasure and happily remember for ever.

Popular venues include the beautiful Botanic Gardens, Finch Bay, the wharf area and riverside park areas.

Your wedding transport can be organised in style and comfort locally.

Cooktown is the gateway to the unspoilt wilderness of Cape York Peninsula, where the rainforest is interweaved by mangroves and white sandy beaches lead to coral reefs – a natural wonderland to explore on your honeymoon.

A Wedding with a Difference

Spend the afternoon with friends & family on the water and have your wedding on the “High Seas” or on a lovely sandy beach with palm trees swaying in the breeze.

The ceremony can be carried out on the Boat or on shore – weather and tide dependant. On the boat, clear side curtains will prevent misty showers & windy gusts from being an issue.

Up to a dozen of your family & friends, you and your loved one, your bridesmaid & best-man can relax on Flying-Fish II.

A partition will be in place so the bride & attendants can freshen up away from the guests.

Padded seating & dinner sized tables provide room & comfort for guests.

A microphone is available for the celebrant and a sound system for the music. A DVD player is also on board for a slide show of those pre-wedding photos.

An esky is provided for ice, cold drinks and snacks. Caterers can be recommended for the meal and the vessel can be decorated to suit a themed wedding.

The Bride and Groom can have their first dance as Husband & Wife on the front deck of Flying Fish II. The area is a little small for a full blown dance party but tradition can be fulfilled.

Up to 20 people can be accommodated in comfort for a three hour wedding on the water.

These are a few spots to think about for the special day.

Popular spots include:

The north shore – national park area – below high tide with the palms in the background is pleasant when the wind is slight.

The harbour is very picturesque late afternoon or at sunset.

The mouth of a small creek near the harbour is a pretty & sheltered spot to anchor out of the wind.
