Cooktown Races
The Cooktown Races are one of the most popular events on the region's social calendar. It is one of only 2 fully self funding race meets in regional Queensland and smoothly run by very dedicated local volunteers.

With an impressive prize pool , trophies, sashes and incentives, the day attracts competitors and spectators from near and far.
Betting facilities include well known bookmakers and onsite TAB while local clubs offer courtesy buses and the local taxi service keeps running until late.
Features of the day include the highly competitive Fashions On The Field with entrants blending tradition with flamboyant modern styles and brilliant colours.
Events for the non equine competitors take place between horse races and provide great entertainment for all.
Fully self-funding and run by dedicated local volunteers, this race meet more than matches all the excitement and serious competition of larger racing events.
The entertainment continues in to the evening with a dinner dance. Great food, well-stocked bar, music and good company make this a race meet to remember.
