North Queensland’s most-invaluable events calendar has been launched in Townsville - the Tropical North Queensland (TNQ) Classic Events Calendar.

The Cook Shire presentation was made by Mark Bousen, Editor-in-Chief of Regional and Remote Newspapers, publishers of the Cooktown Local News.

Mark discussed and promoted the new Cook Shire tourism website and booklet, launched recently in Cooktown.

He highlighted the new www.cooktownandcapeyork.com website, and its importance to promoting tourism in Cooktown.

Mark also discussed the new 62-page free Cooktown and Cape York Peninsula booklet, which includes guides to local museums, plus travel guides to the Rainforest Coast from Rossville to Wujal Wujal, Hope Vale, Endeavour Valley, Elim Beach, Coloured Sands, and the Quinkan Country around Lakeland and Laura.

The function was attended by local government, tourism industry figuresa and corporate supporters.

Now in its eighth year, the Calender is supported by nine North Queensland regional councils, south to the Whitsundays, north to the Torres Strait and west to Mount Isa.

The function was held at the Townsville City Council Chambers.

The glossy calendar contains a guide to almost 500 annual events for the coming year.
