Wallaby Creek Festival Celebrates 10 Years!

Wallaby Creek Festival

From its humble beginnings back in 2002, the Wallaby Creek Festival has grown to be one of Australia’s best little festivals. The aim of the festival has not changed since the beginning; to proudly showcase live original music.

With all the excitement and anxiety bursting at the seams, hard working volunteers and the Cape York Folk Club have worked tirelessly to present a fantastic line up this year.  Music will be offered on 2 stages including some of Australia’s well loved festival bands such as Tijuana Cartel, Ganga Giri, Yeshe, Kooii, Kindling, Rob Longstaff, RE-MAINS, Barons of Tang, Daniel Champagne, Alys Longmate and Carinda Christie Trio. Wallaby Creek Festival also showcases artists from the surrounding towns and indigenous communities; breakfast with the poets; workshops; street theatre and walks to the spectacular Home Rule Falls.

There is a fabulous Children’s Festival that will entice and delight both children and adults. Activities are plentiful and include craft, sculpture, face painting, movies, the Pied Piper Parade and the myriad of workshops for all ages! The festival provides an ideal September holiday destination for families.

Wallaby Creek Festival aims to be a zero waste event, therefore upstanding & endorsing the practice of reduce, re-use and recycle. All patrons are encouraged to rethink what they bring because they are expected to take their rubbish with them when they leave. All food and refreshments throughout the festival will be served with compostable cups, plates and cutlery.

The festival is held at Home Rule Rainforest Lodge, via Rossville; south of Cooktown; east of Black Mountain National Park, north of Cape Tribulation and adjoining Cedar Bay National Park.  The stunning location offers grassy campsites and safe swimming in the crystal clear waters of the Wallaby Creek - all within a short stroll from the ongoing festivities. For those keen to wander further, there is a walking track through to the spectacular Home Rule Falls.

Food and market stalls are presented at the festival to tempt your viewing, tasting and shopping pleasures. Within the festival is a licensed bar so please leave your alcohol, glass and pets at home.
